Frequently Asked Questions: Stucco

What are the advantages of stucco?

Whether you opt for traditional stucco or acrylic stucco, both stucco systems are known to be durable, impact-resistant, weatherproof, require low-maintenance, and are highly energy efficient if properly applied.

How often does stucco need to be repaired?

While both traditional and acrylic stucco systems are long-lasting, acrylic stucco in particular is specifically designed to expand and contract with the weather. This means that stucco can easily last up to 30 years before needing repairs.

Can you do stucco in winter?

Certainly. Stucco can be done in the winter, using an enclosure and a source of heat.

Miscellaneous: EiFS, Warranty & Liability Insurance

What EIFS?

Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) is a complete exterior wall system. EIFS use insulating foam sheets that are fastened to the outside surface of wall frames. A base coat of a layer of woven fiberglass reinforcing mesh is applied on top of the foam, held in place within a coat of trowel-applied adhesive; a topcoat of synthetic stucco is applied over the base coat --which is the part of the EIFS system that remains visible.

What are the advantages of EIFS?

EIFS is considered to the best performing cladding in terms of moisture and thermal control compared to other systems. Plus, EIFS weighs less than many other siding options which have been proved to increase crew productivity and lower structural costs.
